But we are not experts, but fully guarantee authenticity: return for full refund any time if found not authentic.Background HistoryDD Eisenhower rose to the rank of 5 star general andsupreme commander of Allied forces in Western Europe during world war 2. During the war he often worked closely with British Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill. The defeat of Nazi Germany was engineered in large part, by these two men. After the war, Eisenhower was elected president (1952) and retired afterhis 2nd term in 1961.
Winston Churchill died in January, 1965 and was honored worldwide. National Geographic dedicated nearly an entire issue in tribute to Churchill--August 1965. DD Eisenhower was asked to write the introduction, which he did, in an article titled \"The Churchill I knew\". Eisenhower worked with Nat Geo Editor Elisabeth Norton to complete the article.
The Eisenhower signature offered in this listing was on a typed letter from DDE to Miss Norton date April 14, 1965. The General was clarifying some points raised in a previous letter.
In 1979, Miss Norton gave the Eisenhower letter to a friend\'s husband who collected Presidential Signatures. In the photos above, we include a handwritten letter from Elisabeth Norton to her friend. It is a personal letter, but contains a brief paragraph about the Eisenhower missive. We are not including the personal letter in the sale but provide a photo of it as a piece Provenance for the Eisenhower Signature.
ConditionThe items included in the listing have been stored in plastic sleeves, flat in a 3 ring binder. As the photos show, the letter and signature are in very good to excellent condition. The paper is off white with no tears or stains or creases beyond the envelope folds. The signature, in black ink, is continuous and unfaded. It is a complete signature, whereas Eisenhower had often signed documents with his initials, \"DDE\".
