This is a near perfect example of the iconic Breitling Top Time 2000 dating from 1966 (sold 22/12/66). The gold plated with chromed back case is in near faultless condition – most of these have heavy wear on the gold plating (many have lost it altogether or have been re-plated). The original Breitling signed black dial is again untouched and in excellent condition. The applied gold batons along with the gold hands provide a lovely contrast to the black and are perfectly framed by the gold plated top case. The original Breitling signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by our professional watchmaker. We have fitted a new, super high quality, black Hirsch ‘London’ alligator strap with yellow gold plated Hirsch buckle (these retail at £195.00). Incredibly rarely we also have the original Breitling box which is in excellent condition aside from some writing and minor staining to the top. We also have the original sales guarantee showing it sold in 1966. As few as 1 in 100 watches of this age have the box and paperwork…

N.B. We’ve struggled to capture the dial on the pictures and any marks are just tricks of the light or specs of dust.

Watches of this quality and in this condition are extremely rare and highly sought after – if history is any judge they will only increase in value.

As mentioned, it has just been serviced by my watchmaker and, in view of the high-grade Swiss movement, I will include a 12 month guarantee on the movement which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The Case

The gold plated with chromed back case is in near faultless condition – most of these have heavy wear on the gold plating (many have lost it altogether or have been re-plated). The original Breitling signed black dial is again untouched and in excellent condition. The case measures 36mm across, excluding the Breitling signed winding crown and 43mm long including the lugs. The outside case is signed ‘Breitling 2000’, ‘Swiss Made’, ‘Stainless Steel Back’, ‘Shock Protected’, ‘Antimagnetic’ and ‘Waterproof’.

NB Please note, this watch will no longer be waterproof. It’ll be fine in everyday wear with the odd splash but mustn’t be immersed in water

The Dial

The original Breitling signed black dial is again untouched and in excellent condition. The applied gold batons along with the gold hands provide a lovely contrast to the black and are perfectly framed by the gold plated top case. The dial is signed ‘Breitling Geneve’, ‘Top Time’ and ‘Swiss Made T’ (The single ‘T’ is correct and it didn’t have a ‘T’ either side).

The Strap, Box and Papers

The original Breitling signed manual wind movement is again in excellent condition and has just been serviced by our professional watchmaker.
