In September 1968 the royal academy hosted a remarkable \"50 years of bauhaus\" exhibition. This extraordinary and unique design and art schoolflourished between 1919 and 1933, but its influence is still felt today- even unknowingly by people who have never heard of it. Bauhaus has touched on everything in life - architecture, art, furniture, fittings, typography, haberdashery, photography and much more.

For this important exhibition, Herbert Bayer created this design, which used the primary shapes and bold colors of Bauhaus to show the full circle of the movement with flat and 3-dimensional versions of the cube, pyramid and sphere to represent both the past and future of the revolutionary spiritof Bayer. Bayer was a member of Bauhaus from 1921-1928 and headed the Printing and Advertising workshop from 1925 on, making his contribution of a poster design to this historic retrospective an important seal of approval, as well as a spectacular example of advertising design.
