This is an original, not a reproduction carved by the natives of Easter Island
THE STORY: in the old days, King Tuu-ko-ihu discovered two ghosts at the foot of a cliff in the topknot quarry. Both ghosts were long-ears, with pendulent lobes down to their necks. They had beards and long hooked noses. and they were so thin their ribs stuck out from their breasts. The king rushed home to carve the images he saw. Such spirits of all kinds are referred to by the natives as aku-akus.(The title of Thor Heyerdahls\' Book)This wold make a terrific gift for any EI enthusiast!
