Description Up for sale we have a 1972 first edition printing of “Ansel Adams”. Edited by Liliane De Cock with a Foreword by Minor White. Hardcover, with dust jacket, 117 black & white photos. Measures 10-3/4” tall by 9-1/4” wide.From abebooks.com –
“Hastings-on-Hudson, Morgan & Morgan, 1972, first edition, first printing, dust jacket. Hardcover. Foreword by Minor White, includes 117 plates, with an Adams chronology and bibliography at the end.”
Book is in good to very good condition showing wear consistent with age, usage and storage. Dust jacket in fair to good condition showing small tears to the edges and discoloration. Hardcover is in very good condition but does have a cloth crease to the front cover. No bookplate. Pages in excellent condition, clean and complete, but do have a musty smell from storage that should be relieved by airing. Binding in excellent condition as well.

“Ansel Easton Adams (February 20, 1902 – April 22, 1984) was an American photographer and Environmentalist. His black-and-white landscape photographs of the American West, especially Yosemite National Park, have been widely reproduced on calendars, posters, books, and the internet.
Adams and Fred Archer developed the Zone System as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. The resulting clarity and depth characterized his photographs. He primarily used large-format cameras because the large film used with these cameras (primarily 5x4 and 8x10) contributed to the clarity of his prints.
Adams initiated the photography group known as Group f/64, along with fellow photographers Willard Van Dyke and Edward Weston.”
