Condition: Good. Some small edge wear and tiny tears to dust jacket as well as some overall soiling on the back. Small bumps to tips of corners of cover and ends of spine (the bumps do not affect the pages). There is a spot of soiling on the cloth cover at the spine. The pages have slight age toning at the edges.Jacket is now in a Brodart archival wrapper.
This catalog focuses career of and art created by this leading figure of American Impression. A mainstay of the Cos Cob Art Colony in Connecticut who also painted at Appledore, Isle of Shoals and other locations, Hassam is perhaps best known for his depictions of contemplative women in quiet interiors, his seascapes and garden scenes, and a series of “Flag paintings” wherein he highlighted New York City streets and buildings decked out for patriotic celebrations. His oils of canvas, watercolors, lithographs and etchings are included here.
