Further expanding his fictional universe as seen in The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit, Tolkein here explains events that took place thousands of years before the eras in which those books took place, events which, although distant in terms of chronology, are inextricably linked to them.

Detailing his universe\'s creation and pre-history, the birth of elves, men and dwarves, and the background of many characters featured in previous books, such as Sauron, Elrond and Galadriel, the book is testament to Tolkein\'s raredepth of imagination.

Contains a fold out map to rear endpages and an ink inscription to front free endpaper.

CONDITION

In cloth binding with gilt detailing and original dustwrapper. Externally smart, there are some light markings to the boards and minor shelfwear. The dustwrapper is clippped and has some markings to the flyleaves and tide marks to the underside. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are bright and clean throughout. Overall: NEAR FINE with a VERY GOOD INDEED dustwrapper.
