This is an amazing lidded stein or tankard featuring very detailed grouse. It is decorated all the way around and has a wide gold band around the base. The lid is pewter embossed with a design of leaves, acorns, berries and grain. The same design is embossed into the handle, and the thumb lift is a pine cone.

Basil Rashley Ede was a very famous English artist known for his wildlife--especially birds. His work was always very desirable, but even more so since his death on September 29, 2016 at the age of 85.

This stein is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. It stands 7\" tall without the thumb lift or 9\" including the pine cone thumb lift. The mouth is 4\" in diameter and the base measures 5 1/4\" in diameter.
