The1995 MARVEL MASTERPIECEScard set is the second most popular and second most sought after set, albeit quite a distant second to the 1996 Masterpieces set. The exceptional artwork was done by only 4 artists (Dave Devries, Peter Scanlan, Dimitrios Patelis, and Nelson), and it is very impressive. The first 114 cards consist of 38 super heroes/super villains, each painted once by 3 of the 4 featured artists. So, e.g., cards 1-3 are 3 different artists\' renditions of Apocalypse, cards 4-6 are 3 renditions of Archangel, cards 7-9 are 3 different renditions of Beast, and so on. For the last 36 cards, each artist was asked to paint 9 unique super heroes/super villains that had not been featured in the first 114 cards, so there are 36 unique hero/villain paintings in the last 36 cards. There are 151 total base cards, including checklist card 151. Ibecame an avid collector of these cards many years ago because the artwork, although not quite comparable to the caliber of the 1996 Masterpieces, is still truly amazing\' and I\'m a Marvel fanatic anyway. Therefore, I have maintained an inventory of these cards for quite some time, and I have available most singles and insert cards that collectors seek from this set, as well as a few complete sets. Staying with the pattern originating with the 1994 Masterpieces series, Marvel issued anotherparallel set of gold signature cardsto the 1995 base set, but decided to go higher end. The resultantEmotion signature serieswas a very unique and attractive set in concept and appearance. As such, it was very well-received, becoming a highly collectible set and contributing significantly to vaulting the 1995 Marvel Masterpieces to one of the most popular and valuable boxes and master sets for collectors to seek.
