I purchased this watch at an estate sale. No box or papers accompanied the watch. Since I don\'t own a Rolex case wrench and wanted to be absolutely certain that this is a genuine Rolex watch, on October 8, 2014 I had it examined at a local watch specialty store. After opening the case, examining the movement and looking at a reference book, the store\'s watch technician told me that the watch is indeed a genuine Rolex mid-size wristwatch made in 1995. Afterwards, using the serial number on the side of the case, I confirmed the 1995 manufacture date online. In order to test the functionality of the watch\'s automatic winding and date mechanisms, I set the date and time, manually wound the watch and began wearing it without further manual winding. After about two days, the watch stopped--an indication that the automatic feature was not working properly. The date had advanced properly during that period. Further testing revealed (1) that when manually wound on a daily basis, the watch would function correctly; (2) when allowed to run down, then wound solely by shaking the watch from side to side (thereby only employing the automatic mechanism for winding) followed by wearing the watch, it would run for up to about 10 hours; and (3) when allowed to run down, then wound solely by shaking the watch from side to side (employing only the automatic mechanism for winding) followed by not wearing the watch, it would run for about 5 hours. I came to the conclusion that the automatic feature was not fully functional, an issue that I surmised would likely be corrected by cleaning and lubricating the movement. But I wanted to get another opinion about the watch\'s running behavior so I took it back to the watch specialty store and told their watch specialist the methodology and results of the testing I had done. Without any prompting from me, he independently confirmed my diagnosis--that a routine servicing of the watch would likely correct the issue in the automatic feature. However, since the diagnosis was made without disassembling the movement, I will not guarantee that the issue will be remedied by a routine servicing that does not require replacement of any parts.I considered having the watch serviced but decided against it for four reasons: (1) some prospective buyers might want to have the watch serviced only at a certified Rolex repair center; (2) some prospective buyers might have a trusted watch repair technician that they only let work on their watches; (3) some prospective buyers can perform the servicing themselves; and (4) the servicing of a watch--especially a Rolex--usually includes a warranty period but such a warranty might be voided by the fact that I had sold the watch, and even if a warranty were still in effect it would be somewhat of a hassle for the buyer to return the watch to me for repair under the warranty. I have done very little to alter the cosmetics of the watch. The case and bracelet do need some cleaning, as can be seen in some of the photographs.I believe the prior owner likely wore this watch fairly frequently and, as a result, it shows allover wear, scratches, miniscule pitting, stretching to the links, all of which are customary in used Rolexes. However, this watch does have a non-trivial nick to the side of the case opposite the crown. Since the cosmetics are less than pristine I urge prospective buyers to carefully read the \"CONDITION\" section and examine the photographs closely.WRIST SIZE THIS WATCH WILL FIT
