Hayashi Shogoro

This is an excellent cloisonne vase by Hayashi Shogoro. Vase is marked and says Shogoro. Hayashi Kodenji (1831-1915) first made cloisonné in 1861 under the tuition of Hayashi Shogoro, who had studied under the originator of revived Japanese cloisonné, Kaji Tsunekichi. In 1888 he established the Nagoya Shippo Kumiai, or Nagoya Cloisonné Gild, and in 1894 the Shippo Hoshu Gakko, or cloisonné Preservation School. Vase is 9 3/4 inches tall. Note some very minor hairline cracks in neck. Otherwise, vase is in good condition. Expect wear from age and use. See pictures for details on condition. Expect wear from use.
