Fabulous 19c french gilt brass oval four glass clock dating to c1880. In wonderful untouched condition and retaining the original gilded finish. All the curved beveled edge panels are in excellent condition with no damage. The 8 day duration visible escapement movement strikes the half and full hours on a bell and is in good working order. The back plate is stamped with makers mark for S. Marti and numbered 1406. The dial has a name C. Jackman Of paris possibly the retailer. There are a couple of very fine hairlines to the outer dial but this is usual for clocks of this age but as you can see it dosent detract from the beauty of the clock. Quite a large size measuring 12 inches high[30cm] x 8 ins wide[20cm] x 6 ins deep[15cm]. The mercury pendulum is in very good order as is the case with no dings or damage.The original finish is a little dull but i have left well alone as i know collectors like them untouched. A fabulous example of this type of clock and quite rare to find one in this lovely original condition.
