Ornately chased and patterned with stylized acanthus leaves. The threaded lid topped by an artichoke finial and enhanced with acanthus and intricate piercework. Featuring a gorgeous baluster form with a spiral fluted cut crystal body. Resting on a circular pedestal base with acanthus decoration. In very good condition with some scratches to the crystal commensurate with age and use. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and a higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Bearing maker\'s mark for Léon Lapar, active 1878-1897, who commenced trade at 16 rue de Choiseul, Paris. Stands 6 7/8\" tall.
