This listing is for a Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Kutani porcelain centerbowl or tazza. The tazza measures 7 1/2 inches or 19cm high, and is 8 3/4 inches or 22.2cm in diameter at the top rim. This beautiful hand painted center piece feautres a white porcelain ground with a scrolling floral decoration in gold and red. The interior of the bowl has an elaborate scene with a falcon perched on its stand and a basket of flowers hangs in front of it. This scene shows Takagari which is Japanese falconry which was the sport of the noble class. The piece has excellent attention to detail throughout. The tazza is in excellent condition.
