The righteous Simeon Verkhotursky was a nobleman but he was hiding his origins and was living a humble life of poor man. He was walking through the villages and was sewing fur coats and other outer clothes for free. At that, he intentionally did not sew some parts completely, like sleeve or collar, to be criticized by the customers. The saint was traveling a lot, but most of the time he lived near the city of Verkotursk (Ural, Permskaya province). Saint Simeon loved Ural’s nature, and happily contemplated its gracious beauty was raising the prayers to the Creator. In his spare time, he liked to catch fish, because it reminded him of the Disciples of Christ, whose deed he was continuing, directing local inhabitants to a true faith. His conversations were the abundant seed, which later grown fruitful harvest of spirit in Ural and Siberia, where the saint is especially honored. Besides that, St. Simeon is the patron of fishing. His icons possess a special healing force.Good quality painting. Executed in traditional style. Very rare and nice piece of religious art.
