Beautiful 1844 French Sevres cabinet plate hand painted by \"Roy\" with a picture of Ninon de l\'Enclos. Stamped S44 and then \"Ninon de l\'Enclos\" , \"Chateau des Tuileries\" in red and the stamp for the reign of Louis Philippe (1830- 1848) stamp in blue and then the double \"L\" with the letter \"A\" in blue. The plate measures 9.75\" in diameter.
Anne «Ninon» de l\'Enclos, aussi appeléeNinon de LenclosouNinon de Lanclos(Paris, 10 novembre 1620- Paris,17 octobre1705) est unecourtisane, femme d\'esprit,épistolièreetfemme de lettresfrançaise.Fille d’Henri de Lanclos (gentilhommetourangeaulibertin, suivant deCharles II d\'Elbeuf) et de Marie-Barbe de la Marche, elle se révèle une enfant prodige auluthqui citaitMontaigneet les grands classiques et qui fut promenée par sa mèrebigotede salon en salon où elle faisait sensation. Plus tard, elle apprit leclavecin. Anne dite Ninon de Lenclos devint une femme de lettres, influencée par les idéesépicuriennes, qui savait l\'italienet l\'espagnoltout en étant versée en sciences. En 1642 à la mort de sa mère, son libertinage et son athéisme affirmés alors que sa respectabilité n\'est pas encore acquise font que les grandes dames dusalon du Maraisse détournent d\'elle, si bien qu\'elle vient habiter chez une autre courtisane,Marion Delormequi devient son professeur.
