A superb VERY early all copper Jug

Complete with \"HR\" Stamp in soft pewter? (I think see pics)

Stands approx 4.25\" high, base measures 4.5\" across

ALSO HAS \"1/2 GILL\" STAMPED ON THE FRONT OF THE JUG

MAYBE This all copper measure pitchers was used to measure

the daily ration of rum given to the crew aboard naval ships.

These pitchers each have a lead stamp on the inside rim showing the government inspection mark and royal cipher which proofed each pitcher to meet volume specifications.

They range from Three Gallon to 1/8 Gill and have a lead seal with a crest inside.
