19th century 1896 antique 84 (875) silver Russian tea-glass holder, podstakannik

This is a silver tea-glass holder, of cylindrical form on raised foot, designed as a Russian isba, engraved with blossoms between applied windows and a door encompassing peasant figures (male and female) with a geometric handle. The centre window is engraved with a monogram \"TH\".

Glass holder maker- A*Ш (Aleksandr Timofeevich Shevyakov/Александр Тимофеевич Шевяков)-St.Petersburg (1895-1898)

The mark at the bottom shows the assay master as\"АШ\" and maker as \"TH\". The assay master stamp includes a small imperial eagle in the middle. The zolotniks standard of 84 silver is equivalent to 875 silver.

Height - 11.5 cm (4,5 inch), weight - 253 gr

A very similar tea-glass holder was sold in 2010.
