Measures – (Height) 57cm/23”

Ca. 19th century example of a 10th century Khmer Varuna, one of the dikplaka, guardians of the cardinal and sub-cardinal directions and the zenith and nadir. His mount is Hamsa, the goose, also the vehicle of Brahma. The perfect detail of the feathers and jewels, the naturalism and grace of the torso and iconic expressiveness of the face are typical of the Pre Rup style.

The patina and details of this piece are particularly appealing.

Provenance: Ex- London, UK Collection, acquired before1990. All items are guaranteed to be as described. A Certificate ofAuthenticity will accompany all purchases upon request.
