19th Century Persian Qajar QalamdanLacquer Papier Mache Pen Box A charming little box, the lid depicting mounted hunters in traditional Persiandress amongst a green and rocky terrain with a dog. The borders are paintedeither side with a peony flower surrounded by two doves, the alternate sidewith one dove. The ends are decorated with flowers, the underside decoratedwith stylized foliate decoration. This lovely box was given to a Britishdiplomat in Persia (Aran) many years ago in gratitude for the loan of hishouse, a note of thanks is enclosed with the box. I purchased this from theGreat Granddaughter.
