19th Century Tin Bullseye Police/Military/Railroad Kerosene/Oil Lamp:
$175.00

This is a Tin Bullseye Lamp used for signalling by the Police, Military, Railroad, etc. All parts seem to be the original ones and all operate freely and are sturdy. The thick Bullseye Glass is quite interesting to see and feel in person. When you open the door, the lamp tips over because the Bullseye Glass is so heavy compared to the lamp. The Brass Arm on the burner is the wick riser. The lamp has a sliding door to shelter the flame from the wind or block out the light when needed. I assume the little burner on the lamp inside further dates it, but I couldn\'t find a picture of this exact lamp burner. The Tin is just the way you would expect, unpainted and not stripped.Dimensions: 7\" tall 3 1/4\" diameter of the bottom 3\" diameter of the Bullseye GlassNOTE: YOU CAN SEE A SIMILAR LAMP IN CATHERINE THURO\'S BOOK, OIL LAMPS I. Page 56 (Deitz Police Lamp is similar to this one).
