19thC CARVED GILT WOOD LION European Heraldic Style INDIAN PALACE Art Sculpture:

Old antique carved gilt wood lion. This piece measures roughly 15\" tall, 12\" long, and 5\" wide. I wasn\'t quite sure what I had here so I asked a knowledgeable person and this is the quick run down that they gave me....
I was told that this piece 19th century and European Heraldic in style, but most likely from India, as European influence was quite strong during that time. Also I was told looks like it might be from a Coat of Arms and could possibly be from a Maharajar\'s palace. It\'s value is primarily decorative and should probably have an insurance/retail value of around $500.
That said, I am not 100% sure how accurate this quick appraisal rundown is, but it gives us something to go on...
Please note that this piece is quite old. There is a broken tail (see pictures). I was considering having my wood worker fix this, but then decided I should leave it alone as this is part of the character, and I can leave it up to the next owner to decide what to do. I personally like it this way...
