19thC Small Antique German CHARLES HOGUET Ship Marine Seascape OC Oil Painting:

Charles Hoguet (1821-1870) was born in Berlin and began his art studys with the marine painter, Wilhelm Krause. He then moved to Paris where he learned landscape painting from Bertin. He went on to become a well known painter of landscapes, genre scenes and marine scenes under stormy skies.
……Measuring 13 ½” by 17 ½” this authentic 19th century Oil Painting is on stretched canvas and is signed in the lower left hand corner “C. Hoguet 67.” Depicting a fishing boat at low tide you can see several of the crew members. Under a strong blacklight you will see the small restoration in the upper right hand portion of the sky and you can see a tear to the center of the ship which has been patched from behind, but was not in-painted. There is one restorations patch glued on the back of the canvas of this authentic 19th century Charles Hoguet Oil Painting. (please see pictures) On the back of the 17 ½” by 20 ¾” gilded frame is an original label from the artist with his name and studio address. There is also a later label from a past owner.
