Offering for your consideration alovely mid19th centuryAntique Amercian Folk Art reverse glass tinsel painting inthe original gold giltframe.

The subject matter is a composite consisting of a multi-mixed flower wreath with a display of fruit in the center. The fruit consists of a bunch ofgrapes,a lemon, strawberries and a peach.

The painting is backed with tin foil, which gives a twinkling affect to the art form when it is touched by light.

This is a large tinsel painting.The outer frame measurements are about20 3/4\"high by 17 3/4\" wide. It retains the original wood backing.

The painting is in excellent condition over all. There are small areas of wear to the paint which is typical of an early example of this genre.

There was a recentexhibit at the AMERICAN MUSEUM OF FOLK ART in NYC of this Folk Art genre, which was entitled \"FOILED\". In addition the Shelburne Museum in Vermont hosted a special exhibit of tinsel paintings several years ago entitled \"All that Glitters\". These are very collectibleearly American art forms.
