19thC Imperial Russian Gilt Engraved Solid Silver Easter Egg Vilnius Hallmarked Description :On offer is a rare solid silver hallmarked Russian Easter egg. Formed in two sections which push together to form a good seal, it is nicely engraved with a central band forming the words 'Christ has risen' in Cyrillic, which is then highlighted with a gilt wash. To the lower section is a delicately engraved monogram. The interior, which is gilded, bears the 84 zolotniki purity mark with the City mark for Vilnius of an armour clad rider on a horse galloping left. There is also a makers stamp that I cannot make out. A fine piece of 19th century Russian silver. A similar example can be found on (item 390490015305) which has 'XB' engraved rather than the full Cyrillic text on my version In good condition with no dents and minimal wear.
