This is a Historically Accurate 1st Century Roman \"Mainz\" Gladius Sword.Each component of the sword has been well researched and can be found in Museums as well as Christian Miks\' Book on the Study of Roman Swords.
It is totally hand crafted by Roman Sword Maker Patrick B. Pointer who makes swords for Museums, Archeologists, Historians, Reenactor\'s and collectors all over the world. Renowned for his attention to detail and historical accuracy, Pointer creates custom works with accurate measurements and materials in his own shop.
This Roman Mainz Gladius Sword is completely hand made. The Blade is made for 1075 High Carbon Steel hardened and heat treated to 55hrc. polished to a 600 grit. It has a full tang (Not Welded or threaded.) The Hilt components are glued and the tang is Peened. The Guard and Pommel are hand carved from European Boxwood. The 8 sided Four finger Chisel Grip is hand carved from Premium Holly. This Sword boasts an inset Bronze Guard Plate and Bronze Pommel Finial. All \"natural\" hilt components have been sealed with Boiled Linseed Oil. The entire sword has receives 2 coats of Renaissance Museum Wax.
This is a Custom Hand Made Sword with premium quality materials. This IS NOT a Store bought... Indian Manufactured... off the shelf sword. Each of Pointer\'s Rhema Swords are totally and individually hand crafted. The Sword is signed and bears Pointer\'s Trademark on the Guard Plate and the Sword.
It weighs 2 lbs .07 oz. is well balanced and has a POB of 5 1/16\" from the guard.
This sword is \"Near Sharp.\" Definition: It looks sharp, feels sharp but there is no fear in cutting yourself by mishandling it. It has a \"Butter Knife\" Edge. It will not take much to put a sharpened edge on it but that will have to be done at the buyer\'s discretion after they have received the sword.
