Fine antique RARE PAIR of Persian, Islamic solid silver Islamic amulet boxes - Qajar dynasty, circa 1860-1880
Each of oval form in solid 84 grade silver (875/1000) finely decorated with black niello enamel with bold, beautiful Arabic calligraphy on the hinged lid and around the sides
Each box or case with the original string or band attachments for carrying around the arm and with a hinged lid that closes with a small hook.
These amulet boxes were traditionally carried by soldiers / warriors before battle with Quran verses inside to protect against death and injury.
Excellent condition for the age - please inspect all detailed pictures.
Each box measures 5 cm wide x 4.2 cm deep x 1.6 cm tall - with the attachments each is 7 cm wide - total combined weight is 48.5 grams
