2 Vintage Sterling Silver Antique Style 8 1/4" Tall Candlesticks by A Taite & Sons Ltd dated 1962
Each candlestickmeasures approximately 4 3/8 inches or 111 mm across the length of its base from end to end by just over 2 3/4 inches or 72 mm across the width of its base from side to side, the removable sconce is 2 3/8 inches or 62 mm across the length of its upper rim by 1 3/4 inches or 45 mm across the width of its upper rim from side to side and it has an internal candle holding aperture that is just under 7/8 of an inch or 21 mm across its width or diameter, both candlesticks stand 8 1/4 inches or 210 mm tall to the tops of the sconce rims when they are in place.
The candlesticks are both made from sterling silver in oval shapes that have relief step decorated stems and bases, the candlesticks have inverted bell shaped tops or candle holders with removable oval shaped step decorated candle sconces and the oval bases that have been internally filled or weighted for stability, the underside of the candlesticks have green baize or felt lining so that it does not scratch the surface that it's placed upon and the candlesticks have a combined weight of 620.7 grams, the candlesticks are a vintage reproduction of an antique style and they have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below, the base or foot of each candlestick along with its internal candle holders or sconces have been impressed with matching English sterling silver hallmarks that read as follows,
Thecondition is used and near Mint for their age.
The Candlesticks have No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, NoHoles and No Repairs that I can find, both candlesticks stand straight, thedecoration and definition is very crisp, the candle sconces can be removed with relative ease and they fit tightly into the tops of the candles, the silver hallmarks arestill clearly legible althoughas these are used vintage candlesticks they do have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age that is to beexpectedand a gentle clean now and then would notgo amiss. Personally I think that this pair of vintage candlesticks can still be used today and that they will lookfantastic in the right setting with lit candles in them, I also think that they have a delightful antique look about them considering that they are over 50 years old.
Please note that any dark shadows that are visible in some of the images are just reflections of the camera and surroundings that could not be avoided during photography..
