2 Vintage Sterling Silver & Turned Wood Wine Glass Or Bottle Coasters Dated 1977:
Superb Pair of Vintage Sterling Silver & Turned Mahogany Wine Glass or Bottle Coasters dated 1977
Each Coastermeasures approximately 3 7/8 inches or 99 mm across the width or diameter of its outer body from side to side by just under 3 1/2 inches or 88 mm across the internaldiameter or width of the upper rim of its body and it stands 1 1/2 inches or 38 mmtall to the top of its rim.
Both coasters are made from sterlingsilver outer bodies and each one is in circular shape with a raised rib decoration around its upper rim, it has straight sides with a relief step decorated lower rim and it has a turned mahogany wood base that is inset with a sterling silver central panel, the undersides of both coasters have green baize or felt linings to prevent them from scratchingthe surface that they are placedupon and the coasters have Not been engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram all as photographed below, the lower rim of the external body of each coaster hasbeen impressed with a full set of matching English sterling silverhallmarks thatreadas follows,
B &Co - 925 - Anchor - Lion Passant- Queens 1977 Jubilee Mark
B &Co is the Birmingham silversmith or makers mark WIBroadway &Co, 925 is the sterling silver standard mark, the Anchor is the mark of the Birmingham assay office, the Lion Passant is the mark of English 925 standard sterling silver and the Queens Head Jubilee Mark is an alternative date mark that was only used to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee in 1977.
Thecondition is used and near Mint for their age.
The Coasters have No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks, No Holesand No Repairs that I can find, both coasters stand straight, the definition and decoration is very crisp, the turned mahogany wood bases are also in near mint condition with No Splits and No Cracks, the silver hallmarks are still clearly legible although as this is a used pair of coasters they do have some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use along with the patina of age thatis to be expected and a gentle clean would enhance them greatly.Personally I think thatthis pair of vintage wine glass or bottle coasters can still be usedtoday and that they would make a superb addition to any collection, I also think that they look absolutely fantastic considering that they are almost 40 years old.
This Superb Quality Pair of Vintage English SterlingSilver& Mahogany Wine Glass or Bottle Coasters from Birmingham dated 1977 are some of several pieces of antique and collectable silver that I havealso listed.
