To mark this momentous occasion the U.S. Mint introduced the 2017 American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Medal™. This silver medal is the medal counterpart of the U. S. Mint’s unique gold coin design representing a modern rendition of Liberty.
Emblematic figures of liberty have graced U.S. coins and medals since the founding of the United States Mint 225 years ago. The newest Liberty features a modern rendition of this iconic figure and embodies the ideals of freedom and equality first set forth in our Declaration of Independence.
The American Liberty 225th Anniversary Silver Medal is minted in 99.9% silver with a proof finish.
The obverse (heads) features a profile of Liberty wearing a crown of stars. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “1792,” and “2017.”The reverse (tails) depicts a bold and powerful eagle in flight, with eyes toward opportunity and a determination to attain it. Inscription is “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
