DESCRIPTION:
I am pleased to offer this antique papier-mache shoulder head doll. Unmarked, reference shows similar dolls made by M & S Superior (Müller & Strassburger) of Germany around 1870.I do not know her past history, and or restoration history but will try to describe the best I can. Doll measures 24\" tall being a papier-mache shoulder head, worn leather hands with fingers intact, the body is hard cloth with lower legs being a grey color from knee down with black molded boots that are part of the dolls legs.I do not know if the body is as old as this shoulder head, this is how I purchased her, she shows overall wear. Doll displays well sitting or standing. There is a piece of clothon her back I believe to slip a doll stand to.She has a serene expression on her face. She has been\"re-painted\" touched-up sometime in the last 100 years. She has painted dark blue eyes with painted lashes around the eyes, brown single stroke brows and closed mouth.A little darkerpaint around the nose and mouth areas,you may wish to do further restoration to your liking.She has painted moldedblonde hair with center part and locks of curls framing her face.I do not see any cracks on this shoulder head. She wearsvintagepink and black plaid dress with lace trim, it is lovely with hooks down the front for closure, safety pin closure on the skirt, a two piece outfit inwonderful condition, possiblymade especially forthis doll. She wears antique slip, pantaloons, and top.This doll shows \"presence\" and would be a Treasure for collection or display. I have taken plenty of photos.
