DESCRIPTION:
This listing is for a \"gorgeous\" 24\" tall German Schoenau & Hoffmeister doll. Incised on the back of her bisque head is \"5500, star symbol S PB inside the star, H, dep, 8\". Reference tells me Schoenau & Hoffmeister made dolls in 1901+ Sonneberg Germany. Dep is a registered trade mark or claim used by both the French and Germans. From a doll estate I do not know her past history but will describe her the best I can with any flaws. There is past repair on the rim of her head that goes down about 1/2 inch, see photo #6. This is a bisque socket head on jointed composition and wood body. Body shows some light wear, scuffs, re-paint, but all intact, she is strung fine and displays well sitting or with a doll stand. Body is jointed at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, legs and knees with all fingers and toes intact. Fingers and toes accented with red lines around the nails for that realistic look. This doll has a beautiful \"Dolly Face\" with brown glass open and close sleepy eyes that work fine, painted lashes around her eyes, brown brush stroked brows, she as open mouth with upper teeth and tongue, a faint little dimple in her chin. Doll has great face coloring. There is \"old repair\" on the rim of the head down about an inch, left side, see close up photo. This line crack has been repaired well and is together intact. Her long brunette wig with locks of curls is glued on a pate that slips over her head. The wig covers this repair fine. Doll wears a fancy vintage pink dress with white lace trim, it is lovely and snaps down the back. There is a matching bonnet, slip, pantaloons, stockings and shoes. She also has a matching purse. I believe this clothing was made especially for her. I have taken plenty of photos, please look at my photos to serve as part of this description.
