FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

-Whats an OEM bolt?-

Bolts that fit and look like the originals.We do give you choices with both the phillips head engine side case bolts like your originals....but we also give you the reduced head flange bolts that are found on the cases etc of late model motorcycles. Many people prefer the modern bolts due to the fact they dont strip as easily as the original phillips head screws.

These bolts arevery strong, heat treated fasteners and wont strip out or round off like cheaper bolts offered by other companies.

These are all heat treated and zinc plated to look great, resist corrosion,and last the life of your motorcycle. They are stronger and lighter than the stainless steel bolts being offered by other companies as well.

-Can I find theseat a local hardware store?-

Asmost of usknow from experience, OEM stylefastenersare notavailable atour local hardware stores. The metric hex bolts found at Ace or Lowes are not the same.

These fasteners are only found at the cycle dealerships and expensive to purchase on an individual basis.

It\'s nice tohave them on hand, rightwhen you or your riding buddies need them.

-What about OEM style nuts?-

Specbolt uses OEM type flange nuts. You get agenerous assortment flange nuts in M6, M8, and M10 sizes. You also get nylock nuts inM5, M6, M8, and M10 sizes.

-What about metric washers?-

Washers are importantfor most everything including plastic bodywork, engine,and exhaust mounts. We include a nice varity of the most commonlyfound washers used on your bike.

-Will I get any sealing washers?-

Our vintage bike kits dont require sealing washers but we do include them anyway in case you need them for another project. They are free!!!

-What if I have aftermarket parts on my bike?-

Specbolt kits include some additional sizes tofitsome of theaftermarket items on your bike as well...such as tripleclamps etc... If you want to be sure to get the right size fasteners for your specific aftermarket part...just ask. We strive to get you everything you need.

-Will I getevery nut and bolt found on my bike? What isn\'t included?-

This kit is designed as a maintenance only kit and isa great assortmentof the most commonly used fasteners found all over your bike.It is not a full on restoration kit. It doesn\'t include shock or suspension/linkage bolts, axles/axle nuts, swingarm bolt,and no case bolts longer than 45mm.

In some cases we can supply shock bolts for your vintage bike. Just give us a call and be prepared to give us the bolt sizes you require. We love to accomidate special requests from our Vintage Guys!!!

-What if I want to customize my kit orrequest more ofa certain type of fastener?-

Not a problem...If you have any specialneeds or want to request certain sizes just send me an email or call me. I will do my best to create a custom kit with your specific needs in mind.
