Fantasticpiece of authentic Northwest Coast Native Art!

This piece is3 ft (36\") wide and 22\" tall - it\'s 2.5\" thick !!! So it\'s a RARE piece ofsolid and heavy wood!

It\'s been hand crafted, carved and painted on solid cedar by the Coast Salish First Nation artist TOM LAFORTUNE

Depicting the THUNDERBIRDfighting with the SEA SERPENT (Caddy)

The wood comes from an very old cedar tree - It\'s not laminated, it\'s one SOLID large piece. It hasa fewwholes mainly on the back, only one in the front, inflicted by abeetle - very interesting!

Excellent carving, bold colours, VERY deep and clean cuts. Tom put a lot of time and love into this piece - it shows how much he loves his art. He signed it at the front underneath the Thunderbird.

Have a close look at the pictures please - They speak for themselves. This piece makes every room and is a fabulous addition to any native Art collection.

Tom LaFortune was born in Duncan and is of Coast Salish heritage. He is from the Tsawout First Nation of the Saanich people - based on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Tom has worked with wood since the age eleven, which is no surprise since he grew up within a family of master carver and artists. He also learned his carving skillsfrom master carver SIMON CHARLIE while working alongside his brothers DOUG and FRANCIS.

Tom\'s work is always easy recognizable - simply by his distinctive choice of colour.

Condition: like new! no chips, no cracks, no damage, showingminor signs of use and aging.
