The three handwritten leaves (with six pages of text)come from a fragmentary Old Church Slavonic handwritten manuscript book, dated to theearly18th century, on heavy laid paper. Size of each sheet is about6 1/4 in. x 8 in. Very beautiful calligraphic writing in the Cyrillicalphabet of the Old Church Slavonic language in brown ink with some redrubrication. These manuscript leaves areverybeautiful. The 1st of the manuscript leaves has two (2) largehandwritten initials: 1 with red letter and 1 with black letter; it also hasfive (5) handwritten words with red ink (see the first three scannedimages). On these three manuscript leaves, there are two (2) instances of \"The Lord\"; four (4) instances of \"God\"; \"Prophet\"; \"Dogma\"; and\"Amen.\" Very beautiful leaves. Thesethreeleaves have stains and discoloration on thesheets, due totheir age and liturgical use over the centuries.

We need to put into context the work ofChristian scribes during the 1,400 years before Gutenberg’s 1455 invention ofprinting with movable type. During these centuries scribes developed twokinds of abbreviations in the manuscripts that were copied and re-copied.The first kind of abbreviation was the shortening or abbreviation of verycommon words, so that it was easier and quicker to write such frequentlyoccurring words. These do not concern us here. The second kind ofabbreviation was for the words held sacred by Christians. In the Old Church Slavonic tradition, these were called\"Nomina Sacra\" meaning \"Holy Names.\" This leaf has the Nomina Sacra or HolyName for the title \"The Lord\" and a line is placed abovethe \"n\" to indicate that this is a Nomina Sacra.

These areoriginal Slavonic manuscript andprinted leaves, notmodern reproductions. The winner willreceive the original Old Church Slavonic leaves, as well as xerox copies withthe identified and translated words marked on the photocopies (see thelast scanned image), which are provided by an expert who has a Ph.D.degree in Biblical Studies.Their authenticity is 100% guaranteed.
