30\'s NAVAJO DOUBLE SADDLE BLANKET Rug 30x51 Textile Weaving Native American :

This is a great condition 1930\'s Navajo Double saddle blanket measuring 30 inches wide and 51 inches long. This was woven in the Chinle area of the Navajo Nation. The weave of the rug is nice and tight it has a weft to warp count of 20 to 6 . It\'s getting hard to find good old saddle blankets as most of them were used up and then thrown away. It would make a great house rug and is very stout. It was woven of nice hand spun Churro wool both weft and warp. The colors in this blanket are crisp and vibrant and are natural white, brown/black, and hand carded grey. The selvage cords are in great shape with a few breaks and some repairs. (see pictures 7&8)There is no moth damage, and some very slight stains that don\'t take away from the weaving. The rug is clean now and can be used and displays very well just the way it is. All corners are in the best of shape with all four tassels intact looking to have been restored to me. Both sides of this rug are pictured above.
