This is a leaf from a large Koran, Persia or North India, circa 1700, on paper (343 x 212 mm.). There are fifteen lines to the page with the first, eight and fifteenth line on each page written in bold muhaqqaq script in black ink, with the remainder of the text written in smaller muhaqqaq script, small gold discs or rosettes are between verses. Some pages have \"illuminated devices\" in outer margins, illuminated panels flank text on each page with margins ruled in colors and gold and Sura headings are in gold. The verso fifteen lines to the page with the first, eight and fifteenth line on each page. This Koran has seen much devotional usage and many of the pages were not salvageable. Condition of this leaf is Fine [F].
