The Lombardy by Royal Doulton is a hand painted art deco pattern and they are quite stunning as well as scarce. You can see & feel the raised hand painting.These days you don\'t see many of these from this time period, especially in this condition.
The Lombardy pattern is in blues, shades of green, red, some yellow and dark blue surrounding the inner bevel & a dark yellow or mustard trim along the edge of a white plate. Exquisite and Classy.*RA-numbers were assigned to the pattern creator.RA #s werediscontinued after his departure -about 1943 or 1944. RA numbers were not resumed. This stunningly simple design was notcontinued with other numbers until 1954.
China created under his supervision are really hard to find. With this plate collection, again, the condition is unbelievable. I think, repeat I think, these could be from the 30\'s but I can not confirm that as I am not an expert on dating china.
As I understand it, you wont see these often and at some point, maybe never. Or, at least they will become even more rare. Consult a china expert to be sure I am in the ballpark on this data.
