48 VOLS LEATHER BOUND WALTER SCOTT WAVERLY NOVELS 1860

Presented is a wonderful 48 volume set of the Waverly Novels by Sir Walter Scott, the famous Scottish historical novelist and poet. We believe this to be a complete set. The 3/4 leather bound books have marbled green and gold covers with green leather corners and bindings. The green leather on the spine has turned a dark brown with age.

The same marbled design is found on the first and last pages. The bindings have five raised ridges on the spine, and the bindings are nicely gilded with thistle designs, Waverly Novels, the volume number, the title, and the date. The tops of the pages are also gilded. Each volume is illustrated with several black and white prints. The books were published in 1859 and 1860 by Adam and Charles Black of Edinburgh. These are wonderful old decorative leather bound books that will look great in your home or library.

The books are in great overall condition. There is some wear to the leather on the bindings and the corners as you can see in the photos, but this is very minor. All the bindings are perfectly readable. The pages are very clean with no stains, no marks, no tears, and no loose pages. There are no breaks and no repairs.

The books measure 5 inches by 7 inches.

Because of the tremendous weight of this set, we will only ship this item to the United States and Canada.
