In June 2017, a nearly complete, extinct species of bird was discovered in a piece of burmite amber!

Burmese (Burmite)amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs.

This is a beautiful, fully polished piece of super rare, blue burmite (Burmese) amber that contains 5 insects. These insects are a fungus gnat with four flies. It is very rare to find blue amber with fossil inclusions regardless of the source. The blue color appears best when sunlight is shining on rather than through the piece.

NOTE: All pictures were taken in natural sunlight to show the true color best with the exception of the last one which was taken under UV (ultraviolet light).

These insects would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs!
