Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a highly unusual and rare vintage 50s table lamp complete with its original fiberglass shades. This is definitely one of the stranger ones that we\'ve come across! The base of the lamp is constructed of thick piece of wood that is boomerang in shape, black in color and that shows its grain. Stemming from the wood base are twoswoop curvy brass tubes that extend to staggered heights at the top of the lamp. Affixed toeach are two different shaped fiberglass shades - one takes on the form of an orb, while the other is cylindrical.
Measurements: The lamp stands amaximum of 34\" tall (to the top ofthe uppermostcurved brass tube), and 30\" tall (to the top of the lower curved brass tube). The black wood base measures approx. 16\" from side to side x 10\" from front side to rear x 1.75\" thick. The conical fiberglass shade measures approx. 12\" tall x 5\" diameter (top) x 8\" diameter (bottom). The round orb shademeasures approx. 9\" tall x 9\" wide (at its center point from side to side).
Condition: Overall, structurally the lamp is in good condition. The shades were originally red fiberglass as can be seen in a few small spots in the photos. It appears as though someone painted over the shades in a beige color. They are definitely the original shades. We suggest having the stripped back down to their normal red color, but we\'ll leave that up to the winningbuyer to decide on and handle. The shades are free from rips, holes, tears, burns, etc. The brass shows agentle patina which is commensurate with the age ofthe lamp - no corrosion, dents, dings, repairs, etc. The blackcerused woodenboomerang base is in fine condition with no problems to report. The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp, and it is free from frays, splits, exposed wires, etc. As with all vintage lighting, we\'d recommend having it checked before long-term use. The on/off knob is located on the base, and it allows for three-way functionality - either one or the other shade can be lit independently, or they can both be set to light up at the same time.
