This is a leaf of Incunabulaleaf from the Biblia cum postillis, the apocryphal Book of Judithchapters 3-5. It was printed by Anton Koberger in Nuremberg, Germany,on April 12, 1493. The leaf measures 290 x 205 mm. in totality& contains 33-lines of gothic type (14,15,&21) surroundedby sixty-six lines of commentary by Nicholas de Lyra. Four largerubricated initials in reed and text capitals toughed with redthroughout. The Book of Judith contains numerous historical anachronisms, which is why many scholars now accept it as non-historical; it has been considered a parable or perhaps the first historical novel. The Versocontains the same type lines & layout (Hain 3170; Copinger98.Proctor 2083). This leaf contains minor staining.
