Strange how life unfolds sometimes. Every month I have committed to saving AT LEAST two pieces of imperfect or broken or cracked and dinged things from the "melt" pile (which is CERTAIN DEATH FROM BEING MELTED) in pawn shop language and yesterday I found this one and then TODAY, I found my SECOND one--like BAM BAM----two special pieces in a row that needed rescue. I could not believe I found this cuff in the melt bucket this month because there is nothing wrong with it short of the fact that it needs a light cleaning----it is just literally BLACK all over from being stuck in someone's underwear drawer for the past 40 years so i really have no clue why it was thrown in the melt bucket but I knew for sure I was not leaving the shop without it. 2 of the stones have small, very shallow and well-healed hairlines but that is to be expected---these stones are all natural, unstabilized stones and you can FEEL the matrix. The stones appear to be a mix of Hachita, Royston and Morenci Mine stones to me but you will have to be the final judge there. You can see on the back where it has been tested a bunch of times as it went in and out of the pawn shop over the years. This thing is like a big old HOUND DOG that just needs a good FOREVER HOME. DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS in Julie-Land, Peeps! Here is the real deal! The stones have been hand-polished to a fine matte sheen and you can still actually feel the matrix with your finger!!! Check the primitive OLD SCHOOL silver work---this is extremely SIMPLE----just framing out those GORGEOUS GORGEOUS STONES!! Old and primitive. Those applied FAT silver rain drops were made by dropping molten silver into a vat of water. As the hot silver tumbles thru the cool water, it forms teensy-tiny freckles on the surface of the ball from the escaping steam. This old school way of making rain drops started in about the 30's I believe. It is time consuming and Silver Smiths do not do that today, they just buy the machined rain drops to apply to their cuffs, which will not have these steam-freckles like the ones on this cuff do. Those CARINATED shanks were PAINSTAKINGLY made by hand and then soldered together and hand-filed and the inner shanks of this thing are just FILLED with file marks and hammer marks. Amazing patina on this one as well---The ENTIRE cuff is coated with a thick black blanket of NIGHT. I guarantee the stones for LIFE. They are stable. YOU ARE GOING TO FREAKING LOVE THIS. I know, cuz I DO and I had a hard time listing it. This is what I LIVE to find for yall! This one will NOT disappoint you!
