This is an antique medal commemorating the inauguration of US President William McKinley. (1843-1901) McKinley was President when the Spanish American War began in 1898 and was assassinated in Buffalo, NY in 1901.  This medal dates from 1897. The medal looks like it could be brass. There is an image of the President McKinley in the center and below is a wreath and it says \"WILLIAM MCKINLEY\". On the reverse it says - \" INAUGURATED PRESIDENT U.S. MARCH 4, 1897\". The small medal measures app 5/8\" in diameter. The medal has some minor toning and is in excellent condition. This was found with other items from the Spanish and  Philippine American War period. Please see the photos for more details.
