**RARE** - Highly Collectible

1929 Antique Royal Doulton China English Morning Cottage Series A 

Stunning Pastels from a variety of printing techniques.  Often used with hand colouring, sometimes called print and tint.  

Louise Irvine published her first book in 1980 on Series Ware.   I know there are at least 5 editions due to the collectors\'s interest and the rarity of many of the series. C.J.Noke is credited with the idea (1899) of many scenes of earthenware all related to one topic on all types of products unlike a typical set of Dishes for Royal Doulton.  

A D imprint such as these D4987 indicates earthenware.

These items are in Stunning Condition for the age of the piece.

Royal Doulton introduced this English Cottages series D4987 (English Cottages Morning) in 1929.  This pattern was in production until approximately 1942.

Cottages would have been one of the first Series ware due to the lack of the name of the series printed on the back stamp.  Each back stamp includes Crown, Lion, Royal Doulton and Made in England (Stoke-on-Trent) except the creamer is missing the lion.

7 Square Plates - 5.5\" x 5.5\"

Minor crazing on the back due to age and a couple have tiny glaze flakes on the edge.

Royal Doulton introduced the series known as English Cottages A which  is in fact two series.  The second pattern in English Cottage morning - this pattern is D4987.  English Cottages B are painted evening scenes.
