Malay: Sumatran Brasswork -dating from the second half of the 19th century.
Cast using the \'lost wax\' process, a baluster form brass bowl resting on a tripod support. The tripod is formed by three integral paw type feet. The convex cover locates to the bowl opening via an integrally cast collet - neatly press mounting to the base. The cover incorporates a central \'bud\' form knop.
The bowl and cover are embellished with intricately cast decoration - highly stylised bamboo shoots (pucuk rebung) are incorporated in addition to geometric bands and motifs. The decoration also incorporates complex floral decoration.
Overall diameter - 6 3/4\" (171mm), height - 6 3/4\" (171mm).

Condition - Very Good. The usual casting flaws, detailed by the additional images above. No dents and no repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
