Ottoman -dating from thefirst half of the 19th century.
Hand carved and finished from a single section of rich brown hard-wood timber, a folding traditionalQur\'an stand - easel form with integral \'trough\' above the hinge point. The lower supporting structure is ornately shaped and finished - the upper most edges finished with simple cut \'saw-tooth\' decoration.
The outer surfaces are inlaid with scrolling white metal wire, forming stylised floral decoration - the decoration is further embellished by inlaid sections of shaped and polished abalone shell.Overall height, (as apex form) - 12\" (305mm), overall length, folded flat - 17 3/8\" 942mm).
Condition - Good. Traces of old repair at the base of the supporting \'V\' or trough - see images 11 & 12, (not spoiling the appearance). No inlay missing. Fine natural colour and patina.
