Probably Damascus, Syria, manufactured for the Persian market -dating from the beginning of the 20th century.
Hand constructed from sheet brass, the interior retaining the original hard-wood lining. The hinged cover is retained in the closed potion by a hasp and rotary catch arrangement - the cover hinges are of ornate strap form.
This example is embellished with symbology consistent with a Persian wedding - hares, exotic birds etc. The cover face decorated with a figurative vignette - the central male and female figures depicted in Qajar costume.
Overall width - 5 1/4\" (133mm), depth - 3 1/2\" (90mm), height - 2 5/8\" (67mm)..
Condition - Very Good. No dents or splits. Super natural colour and patina
