A Fantastic Victorian Solid Silver Inkwell shaped like a Pen Nib that is fully Hallmarked for Birmingham 1893 and also impressed with the Rd No. 228648. It was made by the Silversmiths John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton of Hukin & Heath who registered this design on the 07/03/1894. Hukin & Heath were well known Manufacturing Silversmiths who had several designs under the guidance of Dr Christopher Dresser and were based at the Imperial Works, Great Charles Street , Birmingham and they also had showrooms at 19 Charterhouse Street, Holborn Circus, London, EC. This fine inkwell is offered in excellent overall condition but both it and the glass reservoir would benefit from a more professional clean than I am able to give them. It is very nicely engraved with the name \' LILLIE \'and measures approximately 13 1/2cms high and 4 3/4cms wide between its pointed shoulders and has a base diameter of 4 1/2cms.The actual Silver Inkwell weighs 72 grams and the Glass Reservoir that is also very good quality with a polished pontil mark on its base weighs 88 grams.A Really Beautiful Example For The Discerning Collector !!!
