A beautifully hand constructed Hallmarked 0.800 silver-gilt vinaigrette, of octagonal form. (The Hallmark is possibly a later import mark - the piece clearly predates the marking).

The hinged cover is located by a recessed lip to the base opening, creating a flush appearance on closure. The cover incorporates a shaped thumb-piece to the front edge - a second thumb-rest is incorporated to the base edge, see image 2. The pierced cover is finished with heavily embossed floral decoration - the stunning floral work further detailed with chasing and engraving.

The underside and eight vertical faces are finished with flat chased and engraved scroll-work.

Internally, the surfaces have retained much of the original gilt finish.

Image 12, details the Hallmark, \"800/000\" - struck twice to the base lip, (either side of the retaining catch).

Overall size: width - 3 3/16\" (81mm), depth - 2 1/8\" (54mm), height - 1/2\" (13mm).

Weight - 2.03oz Troy, (62.9g).

Condition - Very Good. No repairs, no splits or dents - the decoration \'sharp & crisp\'.
